About Zéphyr(she/they)

Zéphyr is a diasporic trans artist PERFORMing through a mixture of graphics, installations, wearings and performances.

As a tranny and a nomad, Zéphyr has been challenging underlying structures all her life and art practice. But from Beijing to London, she realized self-liberation is unrealistic without self-implication. She is currently appropriating manufactured culture to code liveness and embodied resistance, questioning how vulnerability and resistance are curated and rendered into profitable PERFORMative myths.

Before her artist career as a diva, she had been tortured enough in her French and Francophone studies in Beijing, during the bio-political policies that have also survived the pandemic. Luckily, she still managed to graduate with her research on the filthy Surrealism and Marquis de Sade.

Now she is seen around kink clubs in London, extending her tough journey of torture, wearing latex, silicone, perfume, make-up. She always tries to walk the fine line between glamour and disruption, tits in or tits out.

She still believes in tenderness and intersectionality as an emergent strategy. But she wishes to engage with transformative social justice more as a lived practitioner, even though she is always sexualized and spectacularized as a PERFORMer.
